Geezer: A 1949 GMC 1/2 Ton

Welcome to my homepage and thanks for stopping by. Here you'll find pictures of my "rebuilt" (not restored) truck. I've also included links to some good advance design truck Web sites. Pictures will change as additional progress is made! You can click on any picture to enlarge it if you wish.

Starting Out
The bottom picture shows what "Geezer" looked like when I purchased the truck in 1999. Hadn't been on the road since 1993. Had a green sedan seat in the cab held in with bungee cords. The wood long bed was rotted out and there were four different types of tires on the truck. Some gauges worked, others didn't. Was evidence of old rust and some cab patch panels had already been installed. One bonus was that a 261 Chevy engine was already installed and sounded strong. Truck needed lots of TLC and an obvious rebuilding. I decided that I would fix the truck up to be a weekend driver, fix the mechanical items, redo the interior and get it painted. I didn't want a show truck, I wanted a "fun" truck.

Rear side view. Used Michelin LTX A/T radial tires and reproduction hubcaps and 2 inch trim rings. Tailgate is new but the bedsides are original. Have now installed the spare tire under the bed with a bracket purchased off of EBay.
